The 2015/16 Season
For over 50 years the Santa Fe Ski Team has developed the next generation of alpine ski racers. We focus on developing competitive athlets and ski racers as well as advancing leadership skills formed by sportsmanship, respect for others, confidence, self-discipline and focus on excellence. Starting at 7 or 8 years of age we train skiers of all ages in the disciplines of Slalom, Giant Slalom, Super G, and Downhill. We compete in the USSA Rocky Mountain Devision.
When Does Training Start?
We train from November 14, 2015 through March 31, 2016 on select Fridays, and every Saturday and Sunday at the Sipapu Ski Resort. Sipapu offers a great variety of terrain and the flexibitliy to set up training courses in different areas of the mountain. Gatetraining is a significant part of our training and we will be training in gates every training day, weather permitting of course.
How Much Does It Cost?
Depending on the program tuition ranges from $550 for first year junior racers to $1,100 for our Competitive Program. Please ask us about Scholarships. We have a generous amount of funding for tuition scholarships. LEARN MORE>
What Does The Program Include?
The program includes world-class alpine ski racing coaching on all scheudled training days. Training days go from 8:30am–3pm. Depending on ability you will train basic to competitive pre-olympic ski racing skills & techniques. Your membership will also include the ability to purchase a discouted season pass for the Sipapu ski area.
How Do I Register?
What Do I Need To Provide?
SKIS–race skis if you have them. If you don't, don't worry, our coaches will help you select the right equipment depending on your ability.
SKI BOOTS–regular ski boots or race boots, depending on ability.
HELMET–for beginners regular ski helmet or race helmets are sufficient; all competive skiers U14 and older are required to have FIS approved helmets in all USSA giant slalom, super G and Downhill competitions. U14 and older competitors whose helmets are not in compliance will not be permitted to start. Before the winter season begins, check for the FIS RH 2013 logo to make sure your helmet is in compliance.
GLOVES–regular ski gloves or race gloves, depending on ability.
POLES–regular ski poles or race poles, depending on ability.
Athlete should be ready to ski at 8:50am on each training day. Please dress weather appropriately. Pack a backpack with additional layers to ensure you can handle the temperatures at the summit during the coldest winter months.
Pack a lunch, snack and something to drink (may be in a thermos) in your back pack.
Will I Have To Become A Member Of The USSA?
All members of the Santa Fe Ski Team, whether participating in USSA sanctioned races or not, will be required to hold a USSA membership. Please visit USSA.org to complete your new membership or to renew your membership if you are already a member. If you do not intend to race in a USSA sanctioned event this season, you may choose the Alpine “General Member” option.
